Making x-rays is an indispensable part of diseases of the chest, abdomen and skeleton. Suspicion of the following conditions, among others, will often require an X-ray:
- heart problems
- fluid in the chest cavity or lungs
- eaten foreign objects
- osteoarthritis
- breaks
We have a digital X-ray machine which allows us to immediately assess the pictures taken. If there is any doubt, the pictures are referred to a radiologist specialist.
Precaution
Most animals undergo this examination without any problem, but sometimes an intoxication is required to arrive at a suitable photograph. Should this still be necessary, it is important that your animal has not eaten for at least 12 hours prior to the examination.
Because of the radiation, it is required by law that you cannot be present during the X-ray. Afterwards, we do discuss the results with you based on the photos taken.
